IFAVA Mission Statement & Purpose

Print Page

Mission Statement: To encourage and foster efforts to increase the consumption of vegetables and fruit globally for better health by supporting national initiatives, promoting efficiencies, facilitating collaboration on shared aims and providing global leadership. All of which is based on sound science.

IFAVA Four Core Elements:
1. Global Leadership
2. Scientific Clearing House
3. Communication and Resource Sharing
4. Fundraising Framework and Guidance

Purpose:  The federation’s mandate is to support efforts to increase intake of vegetables and fruit by providing members with up-to-date information and support resources, including: research literature surveillance and science reviews; media relations and other communications tools; forums for transferring success stories and sharing resources; and a 5 a Day-type program starter tool kit in collaboration with WHO. These tools will help federation members operate and communicate more efficiently and effectively. (Adopted in Vancouver July 2005)
